A netizen named Mallari posted his rant on his Facebook wall about an incident wherein he is ordering at Chowking Alabang. The incident is that he went to order 1pc chicken with small halo-halo and regular size soft drink worth 137 pesos (as stated on the coupon he presented). Upon presenting the coupon, the cashier asked for an additional 5 pesos for the iced tea since they do not have soft drinks to serve.
Being curious, Mallari asked why he is being charged an additional 5 pesos despite having a coupon in order to save some money. But the cashier told him that the additional 5 pesos is due to the upgrade to iced tea since there is no soft drinks available.
Having said, Mallari burst into anger and told the cashier that it is not his problem that they do not have any soft drinks available and should it be that instance, they should not charge the customer an additional 5 pesos for the iced tea.
Have you encounter the same incident in other restaurants that charges you an additional amount for an upgrade just because they do not have the available combo package that you order? Is it even legal to do so? Is this a new for of scam?
