MANILA, Philippines - Did you know that there is already a law that could put you in serious trouble should you be caught texting while driving? This is called the Anti-Distracted Driving or Republic Act 10913.

Under the new law, "distracted driving," is defined as "using a mobile communications device to write, send, or read a text-based communication or to make or receive calls," and "using an electronic entertainment or computing device to play games, watch movies, surf the Internet, compose messages, read e-books, perform calculations, and other similar acts."
Below are the fines to be paid by violators:
- First time violators = 5,000 pesos
- Second time violators = 10,000 pesos
- Third time violators = 15,000 pesos and suspension of driver's license for three (3) months
- Fourth time violators = 20,000 pesos and revocation of driver's license
