MANILA, Philippines - Mei Magsino, a former Inquirer correspondent, was shot dead in Batangas City. Days before her death, she has been receiving death threats and even perverted messages on her Facebook account.

The said death threats was due to her reports on the illegal jueteng operations in the area, said Chief of Police Manuel Castillo.

According to the Justice For Mei Magsino website, last April 11, Magsino posted a picture of a kid holding a thumb in which at first glance looked something inappropriate.

April 12, a personal message from someone named Paradise Andrew is messaging her sexual perverted messages.

April 13, she was able to trace the IP address from which the accounts were used. It was from a counselor, town of Bauan Batangas.

April 14, Magsino posted the meaning of dolor on a group in Facebook which means "a state of great sorrow or distress". Base on her said post, she was likely to pertain to Ryahn Dolor, Mayor of Bauan Batangas. Two hours after her post, she was then found dead. One gun shot wound at the back of her head.

Possibilities that the police are looking into are love triangle and the illegal jueteng that is happening in the area.
