Before the event, here's a sneak peek of One Direction's red carpet interview:
The event was hosted by Pitbull once again. The opening act was no other than Taylor Swift. Channeling a crazy girlfriend act complete with back up dancer and props, she performed her new song "Blank Space" from the album 1989.
Australian pop rock/pop punk band, 5 Seconds of Summer, did a cover of "What I Like About You".
Canadian reggae fusion band, Magic, and "reggae legend" Wyclef Jean collaborated on a performance of their hit song "Rude".
First time awardee Iggy Azalea performed her hit "Fancy" and "Beg for It".
Ariana Grande also performed some of her hits in a unique singing style.
Lorde performed "Yellow Flicker Beat" off The Hunger Games: Mockingjay soundtrack and did her own version of Solange's nuptials
Christina Milian ans Weezy opened for Nicki Minaj.
Then, Diana Ross presented Taylor Swift with an award in honor of Dick Clark, an American radio and television personality, as well as a cultural icon who remains best known for hosting American Bandstand from 1957 to 1987. Taylor thanked Diana and then directly addressed her fans: "I love talking to you online."
Of course, One Direction performed as well.
The party is not complete without the power trio Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj performimg their hit "Bang Bang".
