MANILA, Philippines - Good news to everyone! The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is planning to rollout its FREE, yes you heard it right, public WIFI internet access across the Philippines begining July of this year.

The said "free Wi-Fi internet access in public places" aims to provide free internet access in selected public spaces in the country.
- Public Plazas and Parks
- Public Primary and Secondary Central Schools
- Public Libraries
- Rural Health Units & Government Hospitals
- State Universities & Colleges
- Train Stations of the MRT and LRT systems
- Airports and Seaports
- City and Municipal Halls
- National Government Offices
The project will benefit 105,000 concurrent users having an average internet speed of 256 kbps. It will be subjected to data volume based Fair Usage Policy to promote an equitable distribution of the public service. The “Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places” project has a budget of Php1.408 billion which was authorized in the 2015 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
