MANILA, Philippines - Are you aware that the minimum fare when riding a jeepney is 7.50? Most likely not because jeepney drivers tend not to give you your 0.50 centavo change whenever you pay 8 pesos.

And since not most of us have 0.50 centavos in our pockets, we usually pay 8 pesos for the jeepney fare and expect a change. But this is not what you think is happening as jeepney drivers take advantage of the 0.50 centavos by not giving you your change. Should you demand for it, their number one excuse is that they do not have a change for that.

But what if we turn the tables. Instead of giving them 8 pesos, why not give them 7 pesos and tell them that we do not have 0.50 centavos? And of course you'll know what will happen next. As a decent citizen of the Philippines, we don't do that because we do not want and do not have time to argue to these kind of people.

With that, Land Transportation Regulatory and Franchising Board (LTFRB) has ordered the rollback of the jeepney fare in several areas, including Metro Manila, by P0.50.

LTFRB Order reducing jeepney minimum fare by P0.50 from P7.50 to P7.00 in NCR, Regions 3 and 4 effective on Friday.

Having said, these jeepney drivers won't have those "wala kaming panukli dyan" and/or "ito na nga lang ikinabubuhay namin, pagkakait niyo pa ang 0.50 sentimos!" excuses.
