Since our country is now implementing a total gun ban due to the upcoming Presidential elections, this taxi driver thought of bringing a samurai sword instead. Yes, you heard that right; a samurai sword.
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the suspect was identified as Manuel Publico who tried to assault his passenger Bayani Arradza with a samurai sword during their heated argument.
While Arradza was with his 10-year old son, they managed to escape Publico's attack.
The incident was said to happen at UP Blizz, Quezon City around 6:40pm wherein Arradza told Publico to take them to Project 4 but Arradza notice that they were heading to Cubao instead in which he immediately prompted the driver. This was the time wherein the two went into an arguement.
At first, Arradza was able to dodge Publico's samurai attack but with the fear of getting his son involved, they immediately fled. Thanks to passersby who responded for help, they were able to capture Publico.
With that, the LTFRB officials were alarmed with several cases regarding arrogant drivers with intent to injure and/or even murder passengers. Having said, LTFRB board member Antonio Inton Jr. said that passengers who encountered such drivers should immediately report these incidents to the nearest police department.
Drivers could be charged with unjust vexation or even attempted homicide should they attempt to injure and/or kill.
